Age: 1-5 years Seems to be my year for fan motors. First the A/C compressor fan, then the GE side-by-side freezer fan, now. We have a little 4.9 cubic foot Frigidaire refrigerator/freezer that seems to be working properly (so far), but the freezer fan is making a fast clicking sound whenever it runs. I can't find any parts manuals that show more than a knob, bulbs, and casters. Also don't see any posts similar anywhere in the forums for a little compact. Haven't taken it apart yet to look around in there, but if I can't find parts for it, then there's no need to take it apart, right?

I'm guessing fan motor or something with the fan itself, but without finding any diagrams, I'm unsure. Regarding, the model number: I can't seem to find the model number on the unit itself. The manual shows a part number 241607801, but I believe that's the part number for the MANUAL itself. Some of the paperwork is showing R134a, but I'm getting the feeling from my searches that's for type of the coolant it uses. The Energy Guide hang tag is showing FRT05LG3D, but that's not yielding much in searches -- but those same searches are showing results including FRT05LG3DW, and since it's white and that's a typical manufacturer syntax, I'm going with that.

Thanks, Jake. Download sam smith songs. I can't disagree that it's the most basic sort of refrigerator. In the few years we've had it, though, we've never had an ice build up and therefore never had to defrost it. We're doing that now, in case there's ice build up behind the panel in the freezer.

With regard to the 'fan,' there's definitely something behind the panel in the freezer that spins. If we stick anything through the vent in the panel in the freezer while it's spinning, it and the clicking stop. Whatever it is, it seems to operate much like the fan in the side-by-side I had the problem with (and posted about) a couple of weeks ago -- open the door while it's running, and it stops; close the door and it auto starts periodically. If it's the freon, would the clicking indicate a problem and would it be one that can be fixed? I realize it's just a cheap little refrigerator, but we sure don't want to send it to the landfill if it can be repaired for a reasonable price. (After the defrost is complete, we'll see what happens and report back.

If the clicking is there, I'm thinking I'll remove that back panel and see what's going on.) P.S. Confirmed model number is FRT05LG3DW. When we pulled it further from the wall today, there's a panel near the bottom on the back. Last edited by ohsheila; June 13th, 2011 at 03:04 PM. Reason: Added P.S.
