Yes that file is totally required, but don’t worry about it, it’s just the file that contains information about licensing. Without it, the portable can’t start because it finds no license and tells an error (you can try to put a 0kb file in Sandbox folder to replace it, the portable will load your file instead of the one it has integrated, but won’t start as it needs the correct one!) That file can’t harm your PC in any way, First of all it’s just a.dll file, a library file, not an exe file, so can’t be executed. The only programs that could harm your computer is Acrobat itself, but I don’t think Adobe is so bad to their users 🙂 Secondly, a portable program runs in a Virtual Environment, which means it does not really run on your computer OS but in some kind of virtualization, and as it’s inside this virtualization it can’t fully access the external environment (your pc) like a normal installed program would! So portables are totally safe to use, your AV might detect that particular file as harmful because Adobe may have paid them to prevent peopole from activating its programs, but a dll file can’t harm anything at all 🙂 •. Before anything else, I’d like to commend you for doing such a great job making these portable programs! It really helps people like me, who can’t really afford the subscriptions.
