With the recent launch of ios 10, 11 and 12 a few users are reporting an issue where the phone would work correctly with the Parrot MKi9000 / MKi9100 and MKi9200 when using ios 9, but since the upgrade to ios 10, 11 or 12 the phone connects / disconnects / connects / disconnects.

E46 DIY Parrot Bluetooth using Connects2 Steering Wheel wiring harness These instructions are only a guide for people installing the Parrot Bluetooth. This is a cheap solution for installing bluetooth in your E46. This install uses the Parrot Ck3000 Evolution Bluetooth () and the Connects2 Parrot steering wheel adapter (). The Connects2 adapter allows you to use your steering wheel buttons to control the bluetooth functions (call / hang up / volume / answer). Sound will come from the front speakers.

Many people retrofit the OEM BMW bluetooth modules in their cars. I decided not to go this route since it would cost me about $450 in parts. The Parrot CK3000 / Connects2 Bluetooth solution cost me ~$150 in parts. If my car wasn’t 10 years old, I would have gone the OEM route. If I also had NAV, I would have considered going with the OEM retrofit due to the additional on screen displays / functions you get with the OEM retrofit. Cost ~$150 - Voice Dialing (If your phone supports it) What you DON’T get vs going with OEM BMW retrofit. - Caller ID on the Stereo when someone calls. - Ability to Scroll through your cellphone’s phone book on the car’s display to make a phone call - Other voice commands (if you have NAV) Parts Needed Parrot CK3000 Evolution () Connects2 Parrot Steering Wheel Adapter (CTPPAR007 for 17pin BMW Radios, CTPPAR008 for 40pin BMW Radios) () You should check your radio’s wiring harness to verify if it’s a 17pin or 40pin before ordering!! () Tools Needed 10mm Socket T-20 Socket (optional) Philips Screw Driver Flat Head Screw Driver 1. Disconnect Battery (10mm Socket) 2. Remove (2) Interior trim pieces. Start with the left trim piece.

Pry out with dull flat tool (like a screw driver covered with tape) () 3. Remove Radio. (2) Philips Screws.

Disconnect cables from the back of the radio. Remove Center vent. (2) Philips Screws. () I do this to run harness behind the vents. There isn’t much room behind the radio for the additional connectors / wires. Remove Glove compartment. (6) Philips Screws.

Installing Harness. The Connects2 plugs directly into the Parrot CK3000 module () This gives you an idea how how things are connected. No cutting / splicing is required.

The only parts of Parrot CK3000 Evo kit that you need are the Microphone, Parrot Bluetooth Module, and Keypad. All the other wires / connectors that come with the Parrot CK3000 Evo are not needed. These are replaced by the connectors that come with Connects2 Wiring Harness. Remove smaller connectors from main radio harness. Pull blue pin out. () Pull Main radio harness into the center vent area. Run Connects2 wiring into center vent.

The Connects2 module end goes into the glove compartment area. The radio connector ends stay in the center Vent area. Pull Connects2 radio plug end into the radio area. Reconnect smaller connector to Connects2 Main radio plug. Connect Parrot CK3000 and Connects2 module together. () Place modules in empty compartments.

Run Microphone wiring. Removing Pillar Trim pieces is optional. Some people choose to stuff the wire under the trim without removing it. Remove Pillar Trim. Pry out finishing cover. DO NOT USE a knife. AIRBAG IS LOCATED UNDER TRIM!!!
